Mare Haven Farm

Located 18 miles from I-95 in the eastern corridor of North Carolina, Mare Haven Farm has the optimal climate for breeding and raising young sport horses. Our goal at Mare Haven is to produce exceptional quality sport horses primarily of Oldenburg and Hanoverian breeding with the mind and temperament to be raised and trained by all equestrians no matter if they are seasoned veterans or just starting out.

Our foals (and horses) are handled daily by all our children exposing them to a wide range of noises, events and situations that normally cause fear in horses. This could be why horses here at Mare Haven rapidly adopt a "so what" attitude. All of our Mares have tremendous heart, great movement, but by far the best attribute of any mare here is their attitude and temperament.

Our older mares have already had show careers and won at some of the top shows. Our first foals (Dakini Storm and Daring Debutante) validated our breeding program, finishing 2nd and 3rd in the 2006 Oldenburg GOV Year End Awards. In 2007 Daring Debutante finished 5th GOV and Love a Little was award premium GOV filly at her October inspection.

In 2008 we are expecting the following foals:

  • Colt - Don Verde out of Reno's Elise by Don Principe
  • Filly - Sonatina out of Oh Rio by Staccato
  • Colt - Don Devaki embyro transfer out of Reba's Song by Donatelli
  • Colt - Diagon Alley out of Cierra Mint by Donatelli
  • Colt - Dapper Dan out of High Society by Donatelli. He is a full sibling to Daring Debutante.

Reba's Song Grand Champion and Don Devaki Colt Champion at Raleigh Breed Show

Reba's Song continued her winning ways in her first show of the season. She scored a 79.5% in her Maiden/Yeld Mare's class and captured first place. From there she went on to win the Mare Championship, the Mature Horse Championship and finally the Grand Championship. Reba also captured the Highest Placing Hanoverian award.

Don Devaki, her Embryo Transfer colt by Donatelli carried on his mothers wining tradition by placing first in the Colts of 2008 class with a score of 80.0%. "Donnie" then went on to win the Colt Championship. Donnie was also awarded High Point Born in the USA ribbon and the High Point NC Born Horse ribbon.

Arielle Perry Captures Blue Ribbon and Makes History at Devon with a Perfect Score!!

Arielle Perry scored a perfect 100% in the the Amateur Handler Junior/Young Rider class. Arielle showed her four-year-old Hanoverian mare Reba's Song by Rotspon out of Windsong. According to the members of the Dressage at Devon committee, it was the first time anyone had accomplished that feat. Even a high ranking USDF member could not recall anyone ever getting a perfect score in any breed show. The class was judged by Olympic medalist Hilda Gurney. Details can be found on the Dressage Daily website.

Later Wednesday evening, Arielle showed Reba to a fifth place finish in the GAIG Mare Championships and helped to secure fourth place for the Marydell Farm Breeder's Group.

In addition, the Committee members of DAD voted Arielle to be the recipient of the "John Perry Memorial" Perpetual Trophy. This trophy is given to the individual that exemplifies good sportsmanship or has accomplished something special at DAD. Arielle won it for both reasons.
